Law Enforcement & Violent Crime

This past Tuesday in Commissioners Court, an item on the agenda was to accept $20,000 for a joint law enforcement task force with the Fort Bend County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office and the United States Marshalls Service to combat against violent crime in Fort Bend County.

Two of the Republican Commissioners voted against the Precinct 4 Constable. Ultimately, it was passed with a 3-2 vote.

First I would like to say, I fully support this initiative. It does not cost the tax payers any money and we get to take violent offenders/ gang members off with violent felony warrants off the streets.

This is a no brainer and should have received unanimous support from all 5 on the Commissioners Court.

I am also appalled the republican commissioners would not let the Constable speak. Instead they antagonized him and his chief deputy while they were at the podium. Kudos to the Constable for taking a firm stance on violent crime.

As your commissioner, I will take a firm stance on supporting our Constables and place a high priority on public safety. I will provide all necessary tools and resources for public safety.

Violent crime is up more than 35% this year in the Houston metro-plex which includes Fort Bend. We must support our law enforcement efforts to fight back against violent crime.

Thank you very much!
